Every 18 seconds, a child becomes an orphan. Lets not forget about them.

The children who are available for adoption in Ukraine are not allowed to be photographed and "published" for view due to current Ukrainian laws. This is meant to protect the children and eliminate the chances of unethical or illegal adoptions . That is why in my slide show you will not see any full view faces of the children from the desky dom.

NEW DEPARTMENT PROJECTED TO OPEN ON JUNE 20
The new State Department for Adoption is still currently closed forpublic. It is technically open – they are hiring and training newstaff and setting up their internal procedures, but it is still closedto the public. No new dossiers are being registered and no travel appointments arebeing scheduled. The good news is that an unofficial date has beenannounced for when it will re-open to the public, and that date isJune 20, 2006. The new State Department for Adoption projects that on that date theywill begin accepting new dossiers and assigning travel appointments.At this time there is still no information whether the new office willalter any of the policies that the old National Adoption Center had.We will have to wait for the new office to open to receive thatinformation.This was posted onhttp://www.commonwealthadoption.org/international-adoption-ukraine.php
